2024 CA State Fair Cannabis Awards Celebrates California’s Cannabis Industry with an Expanded Competition Format, Adds Six New Categories

Educational Exhibit to highlight the History of Cannabis and Celebrate Award Winners

SACRAMENTO, Calif., (July 18, 2023) – The California (CA) Cannabis Exhibit, designed to celebrate California’s award-winning cultivators and honor the history, craft and story of California cannabis today, will be open to the public at the CA State Fair & Food Festival from Friday, July 14 through Sunday, July 30. The exhibit will take fairgoers on an educational journey, celebrating California’s cannabis industry. Exhibitors, speakers, and farmers will be on hand to bring this vibrant industry display to life. (Only adults age 21 and older are allowed entry, and the consumption and sale of commercial cannabis products is prohibited.)

 

The CA Cannabis Exhibit will be hosted indoors, occupying a 7,500-square-foot special event space within Expo Center Building Six. Exhibit features include:

  • Learn About the Plant – Large format infographics and monitors, and award-winning cultivators will be on display so attendees can discover and learn about the cannabis plant, its history, and its community. With consumer safety as a central theme, the Department of Cannabis Control will provide a display on how and why to buy legal licensed cannabis and answer related questions.
  • Award Winners – A centerpiece will showcase the award-winning farmers of the second annual CA State Fair Cannabis Competition. More than 250 entries were evaluated for this historic science-based competition, resulting in 60 trophies and medals awarded. Attendees will have the opportunity to learn about each award-winning cultivar, meet the farmers, and explore the various factors that contribute to earning the coveted title, “Best of California.”
  • Educational Opportunities — Expert speakers, panel discussions and documentary films will take over the presentation stage and delve into important themes to educate attendees. The exhibit stage will come alive on Saturdays and Sundays during the fair for discussions on topics such as legacy genetics, organic farming, minor cannabinoids, cooking with cannabis, and navigating the current legal landscape.   • Relax and BrowseRelax and enjoy a refreshing Hemp CBD beverage, including special edition slushies, and browse the marketplace featuring displays from leading cannabis and hemp brands, retailers, farmers, and industry associations. Visit with industry partners and sponsors including: SC Labs, Humble Root, Department of Cannabis Control, California Certified Organic Farmers, United CORE Alliance, Origins Council, Califari, SoRSE, and The Highest Critic. And of course, attendees will exit through the gift shop, filled with limited edition souvenirs.

 

The cannabis competition joins the official CA State Fair roster of coveted, annual competitions celebrating California’s rich agricultural history and dynamic industries including wine, cheese, olive oil and craft beer.
