Q: What excites you about cannabis being added to the annual competitions at the California State Fair?

A: The normalization & destigmatization of the cannabis plant as an agricultural crop.

Q: What do you think makes the California cannabis landscape/industry unique?

A: The OGs, the history, the heritage… California & especially northern California is globally known as pioneers of the current cannabis culture movement, especially in the USA.

Q: What’s ONE thing you wish more people knew about cannabis?

A: We all have an endocannabinoid system (& we need learn to work with the receptors for this plant in our bodies). Medical research is lacking because cannabis is still considered schedule 1 substance, in other words, illegal at the Federal level. This circumstance is in part, because the FDA cannot approve to a whole plant medicine, that’s not how our system of classifying drugs in this country works. Looking at it as similar to willow bark vs aspirin helps explain why there seems to be a race to isolate cannabinoids, like THCv, CBD, CBN, etc. right now. But cannabis used to be one of the foremost medicines as well as hemp seed feed for agriculture & all of that changed with the Cannabis Tax Act of 1937. It’s time for policy to change again.
